White Birch is the official provincial tree of Saskatchewan.
The tree’s trunk is covered in thin, smooth white bark that is surprisingly strong and pliable. First Nations Peoples have used it for centuries as a covering for canoes prized these qualities. The leaves and bark also have a wide range of medicinal uses from skin care to pain relief.
